Ernest the Train is an old, talkative gray 0-4-4 steam engine who appears in Reader Rabbit 1 Deluxe. He pulls 3 flatcars that carry correct words that rhyme & sound the same and have two of the same letters to Wordville. He has black eyebrows and blue eyes and a black moustache under his pink nose and face in Reader Rabbit 1 Deluxe. He also has a tender for carrying coal.
In Reader Rabbit's Reading 1 and Reader Rabbit's Reading 2, he is a blue 2-4-0 engine with baby-blue wheels and tank, red funnel and his face has white eyebrows and a white moustache. He also lacks his tender until the scene after completing the game.
He makes a cameo appearance in Reader Rabbit Reading Adventures Ages 4-6.
