Lapin Malin: Je Chante et je Joue! (Eng. "Reader Rabbit: I Sing and I Play!") is a video game in The Learning Company's Reader Rabbit series of children's educational games. It was released in 2005 exclusively in French and Dutch-speaking countries, focusing on teaching children to read and sing. The game also incorporates Makaton communication in videos featuring Rémi Guichard in the French version and Nol Havens, the lead singer of VOF de Kunst, in the Dutch version. In France, the game was also bundled with 2005 re-releases of each game.
In addition to sing-along songs and Makaton communication videos, the game also features three activities: pair matching, a coloring book, and a jigsaw puzzle.
Gameplay[]
After a short introduction of Rémi, Reader Rabbit lets you use the remote to navigate between the 5 activities of this game.
Karaoke mode[]
In Karaoke mode, the player can watch Rémi singing nursery rhymes or watch videos of some songs from the Reader Rabbit series. They can also sing themselves, while the instrumental plays and the lyrics display on screen. Then they can listen to their performance.
There are 21 nursery rhymes performed by Rémi and 9 songs from the Reader Rabbit series.
Play mode[]
In Play mode, the player can choose among 13 videos. In these videos, Rémi mimes a story, gives the player a riddle or invites them to imitate him. For example, Rémi will ask the player to guess who he is talking about, or ask them to repeat and mime after him.
Pair matching[]
In this mode, the player has to flip tiles and match 2 pictures until the all the tiles are flipped. There is two board themes: one has pictures of objects from the Reader Rabbit series, the other one has pictures inspired from "Comptines et jeux de doigts avec Rémi" (Eng. Nursery rhymes and finger games with Rémi).
Coloring book[]
In this mode, the player has 12 pictures to color inspired by characters or scenes from the Reader Rabbit series. The pictures are chosen randomly and the player can use a button to show another one. Using the brush and the 18 colors available, they can fill parts of the drawing until they are satisfied. It is possible to temporary show the model to follow, in case the player wants to use the same colors as original. It is also possible to print the page.
Jigsaw puzzle[]
