Trivia[]

  • This is the first Reader Rabbit game to be localized in countries outside the United States and Canada and to be translated in other languages besides American English.
  • This is also the first Reader Rabbit game to have a storyline.
  • The W, Tr and N Letter Lands each feature respective locations from the games Reader Rabbit 1, 2 and 3.
  • Each Letter Land in the game represents a consonant letter, except the Tr Letter Land, which represents a consonant blend (Tr).
    • The game excludes all the vowel letters A, E, I, O, U, and the consonant letters J and X.
  • The concept of this game was re-used in Reader Rabbit's Learn to Read, using a similar interface that follows a long path with up to four Letter Lands every segment, each one having a book to read and reading activities, but with a different story and plot.
    • All of the activities in the aforementioned game are based on the activities from this game, except Music Labeler, which is based on the Labeler Game from Reader Rabbit and the Fabulous Word Factory and its remakes.
    • However, the aforementioned game has a Letter Land for all twenty-six letters of the alphabet, and there is only one book per Letter Land.
  • Starting with this game, Reader no longer wears overalls or gloves. He just wears a red sweater just like he did in the 1991 versions of Reader Rabbit 1 and Reader Rabbit 2, although he is still seen wearing the overalls and gloves on the cover art and exit screen. Additionally, Pop's eyes now have larger pupils.
  • After the release of Reader Rabbit's Interactive Reading Journey 2, the number "1" was added to the end of the title in later pressings of the game.
    • In the UK version, the "1" does not appear in the game's logo during the title sequence, but it does in all other instances.
  • The 1994 release had 40 individual printed storybooks whereas the 1996 and 1997 releases had 5 storybooks with 8 stories each.
  • This is the first game where Pop is used as the sign in screen.
  • Reader and Sam's in-game sprites would later be reused for the Reading Development Library series.
  • In the 1994 version, Reader's mouth moves when he talks about the books. In later versions, it doesn't.
  • In later versions, some letter lands have more objects.
  • In the intro, when Mat comes when she saw Sam feeling sad, her bloomers were shown.
  • On the 1994 and 1996 covers, the word "Interactive" is not outlined but it is on the title screens.

Goofs[]

  • On the help button, Mat's denim dress is purple instead of blue. This is also the case with the sequel.
