Reader Rabbit's Learn to Read is a computer game in The Learning Company's Reader Rabbit series of children's educational games that teaches children to read. It was only released via compilations; first in 1999 as the first disc of Reader Rabbit's Complete Learn to Read System, then in 2000 as part of the single CD compilation Reader Rabbit: Learn to Read With Phonics.
Plot[]
Mat the Mouse goes to a carnival but can't read any of the signs. Annoyed by this, when she comes across a Wish Machine she wishes that there are no more words in all of Wordville. The next morning she realizes her mistake and tries to reverse the spell, but is unable to because the Wish Machine is taken away by the carnival staff. The wish machine, before leaving, gives her a piece of paper with a secret message she has to fill by finding all the letters. She sits on a stage, really sad about what she has done, and confused about how to find the letters, until some hamsters offer to help her with getting the words back. She is delighted and gets the words back in due time by filling in the secret message with the help of the player, the hamsters and Reader Rabbit.

Trivia[]
- This game re-uses the concept from Reader Rabbit's Interactive Reading Journey, following a long path with Letter Lands, books, and reading activities. All activities except Music Labeler are based on the activities from this game.
- However, this game features a Letter Land for all twenty-six letters in the alphabet and one book per Letter Land, whereas Interactive Reading Journey has twenty, all of which being consonants except Tr, which is a consonant blend as well as two books per Letter Land.
- This is the last known Reader Rabbit game to be compatible with Windows 3.1.
- This is the last game in the Reader Rabbit franchise to be released by The Learning Company (formerly SoftKey) before it was sold to Mattel.
- In the original version of the game, the title screen appears immediately after the first intro sequence and features a unique music track. In the version from Reader Rabbit: Learn to Read With Phonics, the original title screen was removed, and the second intro sequence, which follows the title screen in the original version, starts immediately after the first intro sequence.
- Likewise, The Learning Company logo appears before the first intro sequence in the original version, but is replaced by the "tree house" title screen in the subsequent version. A similar situation happens in the 2000 versions of Reader Rabbit Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st Grade and 2nd Grade where the "tree house" title screen replaces the flying chalkboard title sequences from games released during 1997-1999.
- This is the second game to show Mat's bedroom in the intro, after Reader Rabbit Kindergarten.
- The Letters and Sounds screen is similar to that of the Alphabet colouring page in the Rainbow Rock activity from Reader Rabbit Toddler.
- This is the only Reader Rabbit game to be released exclusively via compilations, rather than in its own right.
- This game is not directly part of the 1998-1999 subject-based series despite being released during the same timeline.
- Additionally, the Autorun startup screen uses the same style as that of Reader Rabbit Math Adventures Ages 4-6, therefore the game's logo on the menu appears in the style of that of all games in the subject-based series released in 1998, featuring an "Ages 4-6" label on it. Despite this, the compilation that implements this game is intended for children aged 3-7 years.
Goofs[]
- On the title screen, the white details on Reader's feet are missing.
- In the intro sequence, when the Performing Hamsters introduce themselves to Mat, Nellie and Lefty's colors are swapped.
- This is also the case in the ending sequence, when the hamsters receive their new theater.
- In the ending sequence, when the Wish Machine undoes Mat's wish and restores all the words to Wordville, Lefty is absent, and the rest of the hamsters' heads are mis-colored.
