Reader and Sam go to their Dreamship to visit Penelope, who guards the ship from the Pirats, but when they get there, Penelope is missing. The two start to look for her by looking for clues, with Chester collecting every clue they find. Paige tells them that she saw Penelope in the crow's nest that morning, where they find crackers. Paige remembers that Penelope loves cheese and crackers as a snack, but there is no cheese near the crackers. The friends notice a trail of crackers on the ship's deck and follow it, leading to a piece of cheese in an empty square print, which Sam puts into Chester. Reader notices that the empty space matches the food crates, indicating that Penelope was looking for cheese in the said crate. He then bumps his head on the ship's bell, causing a red feather, belonging to Captain Ratbeard, to fall to the floor. After reviewing the clues and thinking about them, he and Sam figure out that Penelope went in the cheese crate and the Pirats took the crate away, without any idea that Penelope was inside. They notice another trail of crackers along the beach, and when Sam compares them to the ones they saw earlier, they appear the same, indicating that the Pirats left a trail along the way. The trail leads the friends into a cave, where the Pirats are sleeping. While being careful not to wake them, Reader finds the crate with Penelope, and Sam's tail accidentally tickles Cheester's nose, causing the latter to sneeze, waking the Pirats. Reader, Sam, and Penelope run out of the cave with the Pirats running after them. The friends arrive at the Dreamship and the Pirats run into the ship, pushing it into flight. Reader and Sam celebrate Penelope's return as they fly away in the Dreamship.
